With 4 800 souls, Keswick is the last city in the Lake District, on the northern border of the park. There is a real mountain atmosphere, at the foot of the immense Skiddaw and facing the lovely Lake of Derwent Water. Restaurants and pubs are not missing in its centre and the small streets are overflowing with activity in summer. It is mainly a strategic drop point near the other valleys in the corner.Borrowdale in the south: With Ferry, it is one of the most incredible destinations in the region and therefore the country… A multitude of hamlets are this small, preserved piece of nature on which rocky peaks are built. Romantic to wish.Buttermere in the west: history to do better than others, Buttermere does not have one, but two lakes! The tiny self-titled village is a short walk to the famous Red Pike, High Stile or Robinson. Two mountain roads serve the valley and deserve a car tour: Honister Pass and Ardmore Hause.Ullswater, to the east: There is also travel from Windermere and Ambleside via the picturesque Kirkstone Pass. Here you can find the second largest lake in the park and the small villages of Glenridding and Patterdale. The Helvellyn summit makes many walkers dream of the same to the same-do list as Scafell Pike or The Old Man of Coniston.
