The charm of Whitby's small harbor is delicious out of time. Located at the mouth of the River Esk and facing the North Sea, it is easy to spend a day in the surrounding area. It is not for nothing that the writer Bram Stoker chose him as an entry point for Count Dracula in his eponymous novel. It's also here that Captain Cook lived his young years before spreading the world's oceans. A statue of the renowned explorer is always on the bay at the end of East Terrace. You can reach the old town on the other side by the bridge street, after which Church Street and Sandgate are full of colorful boutiques, pubs and tea rooms. At the end of the day, don't miss the 199 steps on the cliff side until the top of the city where the ruins of the famous medieval abbey dominate the horizon.
