Torquay's fame comes from Agatha Christie, the "Queen of Crime", who was born and lived there. Many of her novels are set in the surrounding area, and a festival is dedicated to her every year in September. The city boasts a large marina for sailing boats and a pleasant countryside. It is a fairly classic seaside resort on the English coast and holidaymakers invade the terraces and streets of the waterfront in fine weather. It is also in Torquay that some of the remarkable archaeological sites such as the Kent Caves are located, only 5 minutes drive from the town centre!
