A small village west of the Wight, Yarmouth was pillaged by the French twice, in 1377 and 1524. Henry VIII had a castle built there, which can still be visited and remains the attraction of this small authentic marina, appreciated by travellers. It is also in this region of the island that one can admire The Needles, these magnificent white rocks rising from the water and their lighthouse, which have been photographed many times. They can be seen close-up from Old Battery and New Battery and further away from the beautiful beach of Alum Bay, which can be reached on foot or by chairlift (www.theneedles.co.uk). It will be necessary to think of reserving upstream.
