The Sai Kung Peninsula is relatively remote from Hong Kong's central districts, but the expedition is worth it. Located in the east of the New Territories, it is very much appreciated by hikers, picnics and boating enthusiasts. Sai Kung City harbour is crowded with jonques and sampans strikethrough by tankas women, ready to take you to the beautiful islands in the sea arm of the Sai Kung Bay Harbour. This former fishing village, which grows every year and has many expatriate residents, is home to its harbour, in addition to several Thai, Indian and Western establishments, excellent seafood restaurants. A walk on the seafront is marked by signs with magnificent aquariums displaying the latest fishery products. Admire (and enjoy) superb lobsters, crabs, shrimp, cuttlefish, multiple and varied shells…For the most sporty, Sai Kung's Country Park offers a beautiful hiking opportunity to some of the most beautiful beaches in the territory. Talk about Tai Long Wan or Long Ke to all nature lovers, and it will look at you with eyes that pétillent. Talk to the MacLehose Trail, and it will want to serve as a guide! Pak Chung Chung is the starting point for several walking trails, as well as the site of a small museum on the Hakka culture, the Sheung Yiu Folk Museum. Some trails cross the High Island reservoir to reach Sai Wan and Ham Tin Wan beaches, both with restaurant stalls, and the farthest Tai Wan and Tung Wan. The Sharp Peak dominates the top of its 468 m, and some hikers attack its ascent, far from being a part of fun! In the north of the Country park, Hoi Ha Wan marine park is accessible from Sai Kung via minibus 7. The park provides a good overview of marine biodiversity still visible in Hong Kong.
