Beautiful and peaceful, this town is located between the Segura River and the mountains. In the 15th century, the Catholic Monarchs found men and money to complete the Reconquest. Its Gothic cathedral houses the Temptation of Saint Thomas by the painter Velázquez. It is also the birthplace of Miguel Hernández, one of the greatest Spanish poets of the 20th century. Two great festivals contribute to its fame, the parade of the Moros y cristianos, in mid-July and its Semana Santa, dating from the sixteenth century and classified of international tourist interest, which allows to see some sculptures of Francisco Salzillo.
