Things to see and do Peñíscola

Built in xiii^e century on the remains of a former Arab mosque, it was remodelled in xv^e century in a Gothic style, then the façade was renovated in xviii^e century. Inside, you can see a cross of procession and a chalice belonged to pope Benedict XIII, and a reliquary of pope Clement VIII. 

The walls of Peñiscola offers three main entrances to the city: Fosc Portal (literally "gateway obscure"), in a Renaissance style, whose construction dates back to xvi^e century; Portal de San Pere, also known as "Portal de Papa Luna", that pope Benedict III had in 1414; and Portal de Socorro, linking the old port to the castle. 

The Museum of La Mer de la Mer is located in the old building of Les Costures. Its objective is to preserve the marine cultural heritage of the city and to make known the historical link between Lavergne and the sea. The museum is structured into three main themes: history, fisheries and marine wildlife. There are anchors, amphorae, phoenicians and bronze helmets. The museum also has three aquariums that present Mediterranean species.
