Surrounded by the mountains of the Sant Llorenç del Munt i Serra d'Obac Natural Park, the town of Terrassa occupies the western slope of the Vallès Occidental county, of which it is co-capital with Sabadell. Founded by the Romans under the name of Ègara, the city experienced a great economic boom at the end of the 19th century thanks to the textile industry, as its important industrial heritage and Modernista buildings testify today. The city is especially worth a visit for the Romanesque monumental complex of the churches of Sant Pere. Access by car from Barcelona via the C-58. Rodalies trains: line R4 or FGC trains: line S1 from Barcelona
