The temples of the Kafirkala fire are perched on a huge rock overlooking the village of Suchan. To climb the top, you need to cross the left bank of the small river Bogivdara and get around the cliff. Those who love historic monuments may be disappointed, but there are only those temples left to the foundations. But Kafirkala is one of the rare testimonies of the cult of fire at the Pamir. The two temples built in life or viith century were large circular towers. The smallest, with a diameter of 9 meters, is located a little below, the ritual fire burned in a circular home located in the center. The diameter of the second temple is 11 meters and the home placed in its center is square shape. There were also minor lights for practitioners, which were shown by small homes in the room. The two temples had attachments where the official residences resided. The stone walls were 4 or 5 meters high, no pillars supported the roof that had to be staircase, with wide opening in the center, like the "Tchorkhona", these wooden ceilings that can be seen in the traditional houses of the Pamir.Kafirkala is a popular name found more than once in the region, translating into «fortress of infidels». The ruins of a fortress, or rather a khona tup, or fortified position, exist at the top of the cliff. The Pamiri, the preachers of the fire, long resisted the Muslim faith, and had to protect themselves from multiple attacks.
