Travel Guide Mourghab

Located at 3,576 m above sea level, the city of Mourghab is one of the main steps along the M 41 and the first Tajik 'city' crossing from Kyrgyzstan. With two parallel streets - one at the bottom of the city - it can be a good starting point for those who want to go to treks in the region where to find companions to share the costs of a vehicle. In the latter case, wait can be a little long, and you will enjoy finding some activity at the bazaar and along the river. For the rest, Mourghab is a morne city, without electricity much of the day (the power station is being built and will end only in 2029) and little active. Nevertheless, there are many excursions around: the lake Karakul in mind, but also in the mountains and valleys that surround the city and are rich in very beautiful excursions. But beware, Mourghab is already a little over 3,600 m, and a trek in the surroundings can quickly propel you to the altitude of Mont Blanc. Be sure to be sufficiently acclimatized before you start.
