The lace of its alleyways tells the story of a fishermen's hamlet. Its invigorating air and the virtues of its sea bathing have earned it the nickname of "Queen of Iodine". Its incomparable light seduced Courbet. The retro charm of its pedestrian seawall with its villas, many of which were built after the arrival of the railway in 1876, is a delight for walkers. Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer is a small pearl on the Côte de Nacre, no doubt this is why some people have renamed it "L'Elégante". L'Elégante, which saw the Canadian troops of the North Shore Regiment land on June 6, 1944, in place of the present Square des Canadiens.
