A historic pharmacy, located in the conventual complex of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, to be discovered absolutely! The Dominican monks cultivated herbs for the preparation of their medicines and ointments. Opened in 1612, this former pharmacy, the oldest in the Western world still in operation, has seen its reputation and that of its products grow throughout Europe. Cosmetics, skin care, soaps and perfumes still follow the recipes of the time.

Ici tout est calme, luxe et volupté. Le bâtiment est beau et luxueux. Marbre au sol, étagères et présentoirs en bois sombre, décoration soignée créent une ambiance raffinée. Les pièces se suivent et chacune est un enchantement. Il y a un petit salon de thé, un petit musée. Une des salles donne sur l'un des cloîtres de la basilique éponyme. Et, évidemment, les produits proposés, dont la fameuse Acqua di S.M.Novella élaborée par les moines dominicains en 1533 pour Catherine de Médicis, font de ce lieu un enchantement.

N'en ratez pas l'entrée car l'endroit est magique ! Plein de couleurs, de senteurs et d'histoire, et toujours occupé par une pharmacie ultra-moderne spécialisée dans plusieurs domaines allant des savons aux pots-pourris en passant par les thés, tisanes et autres spécialités herboristes. Un beau contraste. Les prix sont douloureux pour le portefeuille mais les produits de qualité.
