Milan's triumphal arch faces the back of the Sforza castle. A symbol of the vagaries of history, it was begun by Napoleon in 1807, together with the Foro Bonaparte, and located on the Milan-Paris axis. The Emperor of Austria, Habsburg François I, finished the work by dedicating it to peace after 1815. Impressive bronze vestige on the summit.
