LOU RESSIGNON

World cuisine restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

In the centre of the village, this family-run bistro, which opened in 1966, offers regional cuisine: plates of cold meats and cheeses from all over the Aosta Valley (with tome and fontina), homemade tagliatelle with Bosses ham, polenta with cheeses, fondue alla valdostana and beef cheek carbonade - a melt-in-the-mouth delicacy - are never missing from the menu. The friendliness and cordiality of the managers are a strong point of this traditional restaurant. Lou Ressignon is also a comfortable bed and breakfast with good value for money.

For those who love good food, the Bar à Fromage is the place to be. This mountain restaurant, which you'd visit only for its traditional decor featuring objects used to make butter or cheese, is well worth the detour. The raw materials used to concoct the dishes are rigorously sourced from local producers. It's hard to choose: gnocchi or Grand Paradis soup? Fondue, raclette or reblochon? Cheese platter or alpine milk ice cream?

LOU BEQUET

Regional cuisine restaurant €€

Lou Bequet, term from Valle d'Aosta dialect, means "the goblin" in French. The restaurant is heated by the central fireplace. Wonderful views over the final stretch of the Pré de Saint-Ours. The cuisine is traditional, sometimes revisited, but the ingredients are always local and of the highest quality. The restaurant even won a prize on an Italian TV show for the quality of its chef's dishes. Lou Bequet, with the highest marks for cleanliness, service and cuisine, won the competition.
