Located at the confluence of the Doire de Verney and the Doire Baltée, 12 km from Courmayeur, Pré-Saint-Didier (1,001 m) is popular for its spa treatments. Easy to reach, the village is the terminus of the Turin-Aosta line trains. The water of the village, named Aræbrigium , was already known at the time of the Romans, great lovers of thermal baths to relax. This ferruginous water has curative virtues against rheumatism, skin diseases and arthritis. At the end of the 19th century a hotel-spa-casino frequented by the House of Savoy was built. Today, the historical buildings have been merged to create the very luxurious thermal centre.
