The first traces of Chardonne date back to the year 1000 with the name "Cardona" and then, in the 12th century, the name Chardonna appeared. Chardonne will be the property of several abbeys, including Saint-Maurice, before becoming part of the heritage of the bishopric of Lausanne until the Reformation. The commune, in its present form, was constituted in the 1820s. It has a beautiful medieval castle within it, but it is privately owned. To reach it, by car, you will take the motorway exit Chexbres, then cross Chexbres to come to Chardonne. You can also take the funicular Vevey-Chardonne-Mont-Pèlerin.
