This former Mijak village has also lost most of its inhabitants. But there's no renaissance here: no hotels or restaurants on site, only hiking trails. Although Tresonče was once mainly a sheep-farming village, it was an important center of Mijak culture. The village gave the country two of its greatest painters: the founder of the Macedonian Impressionist movement Dimitar Avramovski-Pandilov (1898-1963) and the religious painter Dičo Zograf (1812-1872). The latter notably decorated here the large Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church (1844) with a very astonishing fresco of a black figure embodying the plague, here fought according to Bulgarian tradition by Saint Charalampe of Magnesia. But since two thefts committed in 2012 and 2013 (27 icons, silver crosses...), this church and the other three in Tresonče remain closed. For visits, check with Neda in Galičnik and Kalin in Lazaropole.
