Appreciated for its natural beauty and temperate climate, the town became a favorite stopover for foreigners vacationing on the Riviera, just like Cannes or Nice. The English transformed the coastal town into a true British city, with banks, cultural and sports clubs, churches, gardens and even an English-style cemetery. From this glorious past, elegant Art Nouveau houses remain near the coast, while the small medieval center climbs the hill. The seaside promenade is pleasant even if the railroad, which runs along Bordighera, breaks the landscape a little. The tourist office is in Via Vittorio Emanuele II.
