Alongside Juno, Gold, Omaha, and Utah, it stretches from Langrune to Ouistreham on a narrow front.
Landing place, Sword Beach is the easternmost beach next to Juno, Gold, Omaha and Utah. It stretched from Langrune to Ouistreham but the attack front was narrower than expected. General Rennie’s3rd British Division landed in front of Hermanville, supported by the "Green Berets", including the brigade of the Scotsman Lord Lovat and his piper. After the capture of Ouistreham, after deadly street fighting, the bridges of Bénouville (Pegasus Bridge) and Ranville were reached and the junction with the paratroopers made.
