lautoka and Nadi are 25 km apart. Both towns are equally lively, but for very different reasons. While Nadi is very touristy, Laukota has nothing to show for it. Admittedly, Lautoka doesn't offer much in the way of attractions, but if you insist, discover the town that invariably remains No. 2: Fiji's2nd-largest city and the country's2nd-largest port. Accustomed to second place, it won't be offended if you come for a half-day tour and no more. A sugar town, its economy and the lives of its inhabitants revolve around sugar cane and the distillery it has been home to since the early 19th century. And, as everywhere else near the sugarcane fields where they traditionally worked, Lautoka is home to a large number of Indo-Fijians.
