It's because this medieval town lies in the Orbiquet valley that it has so much charm: a land of cows and horses, orchards, thatched cottages, forests and green valleys... Orbec is popular with tourists, and was even a place of inspiration for Debussy. During the Hundred Years' War, the town was plundered and its castle dismantled on the orders of Charles V, King of France. Today, Orbec boasts a rich heritage dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, with manor houses, mansions and hôtels particuliers lining the streets of the town center. Let's confess our affection for this treasure trove of Augean architecture, which is being reborn from unjustified oblivion.
