Belfast is a city in constant change, a city of contrasts that continues its pacification and gradually establishes itself as a tourist destination. It was the capital of Northern Ireland and developed very rapidly in the 18th and 19th centuries as a result of the growth of the flax, tobacco and shipbuilding industries. Its population more or less doubled every ten years during the industrial revolution, making it the largest city on the island! Queen Victoria visited in 1849 and left her mark everywhere: statues, names of streets and buildings, etc. It was with the partition of Ireland in 1921 that the city acquired its status as capital. After the Second World War, industrial decline began and a terrible period of conflict known as Troubles tore communities apart in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Things have since improved with the 1997 ceasefire and thanks to economic investment, particularly from the European Union. Today, Belfast seems more dynamic than ever and bars, restaurants and museums are created every year. A new gastronomic scene is emerging and a strong cultural renewal is also being carried out by places like Titanic Belfast or the MAC. Belfast is a small town, full of friendly addresses and authentic pubs. Everything is grouped together in the centre, which you can walk through without any problem. The inhabitants, proud of their city, will welcome you with friendliness, humour and kindness.

When to go to Belfast?

When to go to Belfast? The Northern Irish climate is oceanic, relatively mild and humid. In autumn, temperatures are around 10°C, while winters are, except in exceptional cases, quite mild and temperatures range from 3 to 8°C. Spring can still be quite cool and summers, while pleasant, rarely exceed 20°C. That being said, it appears that the best time to visit Belfast is from May to September, which is the peak tourist season, although ultimately the rest of the year is also suitable for visiting the Northern Irish capital. So when to go to Belfast? Ideally from spring to early autumn.
