Birr is a charming little Midlands village, at the confluence of the rivers Camcor and Little Brosna, where it's well worth stopping for a few hours when visiting County Offaly. The main attraction of this small town is of course its magnificent castle, the residence of the Earls of Rosse, and its beautiful gardens. But it doesn't take long to fall under its typically Irish charm. The atmosphere of the pubs, the quality of the restaurants, the beautiful Georgian houses and the warmth of the people of Birr may well keep you here a little longer than expected... In any case, it will be a choice stopover on your journey.
