Letterfrack, founded in the mid-19th century by Quakers, is a good starting point for Connemara National Park. The National Park Visitor Center, located near Letterfrack, has exhibits on the surrounding natural environment, with many informative panels on thebogs, their formation and the human activity that surrounds them. The staff are friendly and will answer any questions you may have, such as how to mark routes or how long the tours will take. In July and August, free guided walks are organized by the park staff. Also on site, a tea room to have a bite to eat.
