The small town of Gort (a city of less than 3,000 inhabitants, a good part of which are of Brazilian origin) does not have any particular tourist interest, but its surroundings have some interesting sites that we will mention here. In the town, you should not miss the nice Coole Park and its beautiful hiking trails, but also the Thoor Ballylee, located a few kilometers from the city, which was a real place of inspiration for the poet William Butler Yeats. Finally, 5 kilometers southwest of Gort, Kilmacduagh Monastery is a peaceful and bucolic monastery site that is well worth a walk.
