From Galway, it's a short bus ride to Spiddal(Un Spidéal in Gaelic), which marks the entrance to Connemara. It's a lively little town lined with pubs and craft stores. Opposite the beach is the Spiddal Craft Centre, home to several craft stores. From Spiddal, the road continues west towards Rossaveal, where ferries depart for the Aran Islands and the landscape begins to grow wilder. Opposite Rossaveal, Carraroe also boasts pretty beaches (including Coral Strand, a beach entirely covered in shells and coral fragments) and fine views of the Aran Islands.
