Inishmore is the largest of the Aran Islands, with about 800 inhabitants and an area of 14 km long and 3 km wide. Inishmore or Inis Mór - "mór" meaning "big" in Gaelic -, is also the easiest to reach and therefore the most visited. Kilronan is the most important village of the island. This is where the boats arrive and where you can rent bicycles to discover the island. Without a doubt, the most impressive monument on the Aran Islands is on Inishmore: Dun Aengus, an ancient stone fort which is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the country. You can also see the remains of two other forts between Kilronan and Dún Aengus: Dún Eochla (circular fort) and Dún Dúchathair (on the edge of a cliff). You can also visit the remains of a monastic city (Tighlagh Eany) in Kilronan, as well as St Benan's Church which, located on top of a hill facing Inishman and measuring, on the ground, 3.20 meters by 2.10 meters, is probably one of the smallest oratories in the world Finally, in the north of the island, after Kilmurvey, are Clochán na Carraige, an ancient stone hut, and the seven churches (Na Seacht d'Teampeall), which are actually the ruins of two churches and monastic buildings
