The Aran Archipelago, in the middle of Galway Bay, consists of three islands: Inishmore (largest), Inishman and Superrod. They are the extension of the limestone of the Burren and contain some of the oldest archaeological ruins in Ireland. The visit of the Aran Islands could well be remembered as one of the best memories of your trip to Ireland. Rocks swept by violent winds and head by ruthless waves, nature is still wild, with beautiful landscapes, sillonnés stone walls, bordered by beautiful coastline and spectacular cliffs. On this land of traditions, we still speak Gaelic and time seems to have stopped. There are also ruins of monasteries, fortifications and churches everywhere. The Aran islands therefore have everything to please. But, as often, when a place is so enchanting, tourists are affluent. And as the islands are not very large, they cannot be avoided. In July and August this is a real invasion. But seeing all these people, on their bikes, also has a funny side, and even if you don't have the right to solitude you will certainly pass a very good time. Finally, the islands usually visit on foot or by bicycle. So, unless you do miles in the rain don't bother you, try to get there on a sunny day.
