Ennis is a lively administrative town in County Clare, and a lively one at that. Its main streets are bustling with activity, tempered by the nonchalance of the River Fergus, the soothing calm of its 13th-century priory, its austere 19th-century cathedral and the tall statue of O'Connell. There are also many stores on O'Connell Street and Parnel Street in particular and a few good restaurants to recover from the day's visit. As you can see, Ennis can be a pleasant stopover and an excellent starting point for exploring the beautiful region of County Clare.
