Cahersiveen is one of the largest towns on the Iveragh peninsula (population approx. 1,400), and a popular summer resort. Daniel O'Connell, who founded the Catholic Association in 1823 to campaign for equal political rights for Catholics, was born near the town. A church in the town center is dedicated to him, the famous O'Connell Memorial Church. In August, Cahersiveen celebrates with an international Celtic music festival. An event not to be missed if you're in the area. Don't forget to book your room in advance if you want to attend!
