Kinsale, overlooking the wide Brandon estuary, is one of Ireland's most picturesque villages. First and foremost, it's a small port, carefully maintained and preserved. Its reputation as a gastronomic town also attracts many tourists. A stroll through the narrow streets lined with slate-clad houses is a must to appreciate its charm.If you're spending the day in Kinsale, take the morning for a leisurely stroll through the village. Heading up to the center via Market Quay or Pearse Street, you'll come to the charming Market Square, where the market used to be held. Small stalls and restaurants have been set up in old houses with brightly painted facades. In fine weather, this little square is covered with terraces, ideal for lunch or just a drink. We'll then head up Cork Street, lined with pretty houses, to Desmond Castle and visit the Wine Museum. In the early afternoon, take the River Road along the bay to the Scilly Walk, a pleasant stroll under the trees and along the water's edge, to reach the picturesque Charles Fort on the horizon. After visiting this military fortification with its beautiful ruins, be sure to linger in Summercove, the lower part of the town. It's a great place to watch the sunset.
