Located at the mouth of the Blackwater River, Youghal (pronounced "yawl") offers a superb view of both the sea and the coast. This seaside resort has memories: that of Walter Raleigh, who was master of the town in the 16th century and planted the potato crop there; that of Moby Dick, the white whale, since John Huston, in 1954, chose the port for the filming of the movie. That said, there is not much to see in this village. Its main attraction being its large beach, we advise you to go there in good weather! Note that the bus stops at the beach before entering the village.
