In the 1820s, the Fota peninsula was the home of the Smith-Barry family, descendants of Philip de Barry, who came to Ireland during the Norman invasion. Today, this small piece of land is a nature reserve, home to a superb golf course and a 30-hectare wildlife park - the only one of its kind in the country. It's the perfect place for a family getaway.
