This small coastal town, the main one on the island, is located 10 km north of Halltorp. There are the ruins of a medieval castle, destroyed by fire in 1806 (open from 10 am to 6 pm in summer), and the summer residence of the royal family, a white plastered castle (Solliden), built between 1903 and 1906 by Queen Victoria, in an Italian style. The park of the castle (open from April to September, May to August from 10am to 6pm) has a rose garden.
