In the past, herring fishing was practiced here. Today, both villages are primarily residential. In the center of the village of Skanör, the church of Saint Olof, dating from the 13th century, is immaculate and surrounded by a well-kept and green cemetery. A curiosity: near the port, geese use a passageway specially designed for them! Next to Skanör, Falsterbo has a more modern tone. The omnipresent rose and lavender beds give it a southern accent. Several kilometers of white sandy beach (the whitest in the country!) make it a very popular resort. This very sunny beach is a real paradise in summer; its sand is very fine, and the water, particularly blue (although rather fresh) invites to swim. You can walk for miles and miles along the sea, with your feet in the waves.
