From the walls strewn with works of art to the huge coloured basins in the bathroom, nothing has been left to chance by the Swedish architectural firm "Koncept". A bohemian chic atmosphere for this hotel, which is very popular with a young and posh European clientele. Story Hotel has become one of the places to be at night. Locals come in summer and winter to quench their thirst in its New York-style bar. The brightly coloured courtyard is particularly pleasant in summer. If you are looking for style and atmosphere, go for it!

The big brother of the Rex Petit (2 star hotel), nestled in the same building, the Rex hotel (3 star) is located in a classical style building dating from 1866 in the heart of Stockholm. Spread over four floors, the standard-sized rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is served on a beautiful veranda surrounded by plants. The warm atmosphere of the 19th century can still be felt with the old brick vaults in the basement and staircase and the original floor. A good choice, authentic and on a human scale.

MÄLARENDROTTNINGEN HOTEL-RESTAURANT

Hotel €€

Still a famous ship! The Mälarendrottningen, with a white splendour, was in the 1920 s the yacht of American billionaire Barbara Hutton. This two-bridge yacht has become a hotel of 60 cabins, small but luxurious. We sleep in bunk beds but the location is particularly privileged because the Mälarendrottningen is moored on the quays of the island of Riddarholmen, 50 m from the Riddarholmskyrkan church. You can take lunch on the bridge.

LES STF VANDRARHEM SKEPPSHOLMEN ET AF CHAPMAN

Hotel

They are two youth hostels located opposite the other, with the same office of reception. They are probably also the best hostels in the city on Skeppsholmen Island, facing Gamla Stan. Af Chapman has the particularity of being a majestic sailboat dating back to 1888, serving as youth hostel since 1949! The hostel is held for the most beautiful of the country and it is only justice. With its 74,7 m long and 11,4 m wide, this sailboat, the most famous in Sweden after the Vasa, offers an incomparable view over the Royal castle. The hostel offers 136 beds in cabins from 2 to 10 people. Let's say that it's better not to be claustrophobic in order to sleep in small and poorly ventilated cabins. If there are showers, it is impossible to prepare a meal. To have a cabin, it is advisable to reserve or to appear early in the morning: We're doing the tail with American and Italian tourists wearing caps, tennis, jeans and backpacks.

Skeppsholmen Hostel is right in front of the sailboat and offers 160 beds in rooms from 2 to 15 people (rooms on the first floor are adapted to accommodate disabled people). It is at the entrance of the 2 hostels as well as coffee and kitchen. We are in the immediate surroundings of the modern Museum, the Museum of Architecture and the Museum of the World East Asia. Af's cabins and Skeppsholmen rooms are closed between a. m. and p. m. But the hostel is open all night for night owls. Parking spaces are rare for vehicles.

CENTRALE HÔTELIÈRE

Hotel €€

The hotel offers a wide range of addresses, from the cheapest to the most expensive, to stay in and around Stockholm. If you are not completely comfortable in English (or Swedish), let one of the hostesses who will offer you a selection of hotels (with some interesting discounts) and which will reserve for you the room of your choice or for a youth hostel with some Sek per person. Insist on getting the addresses of the rooms in the living room (not very expensive but in general pretty remote) because they are not proposed systematically. If you are looking to combine the benefits of affordable accommodation at the centre and price, it is difficult to find better than city hostels. For families, the best solution remains camping. There are about ten around Stockholm. In summer, a caravaning land is opened in the heart of the city, on Långholmen. In order to help you better locate the addresses, we inform you of the district in addition to the number and street, as well as the metro station. Attention, some stations are quite remote from the places treated, better accessible by bus and some quarters are served only by one station (e. g.: Gamla Stan).

Rex Petit, or how to cleverly convert old cellars into small rooms full of character... In the basement of the Rex Hotel, there are about twenty rooms, sometimes vaulted, often very small (they measure on average 6m2) but colourful and warm, even though they have no windows. Most of them have private showers and toilets, but prices drop when the toilets are in the corridor. Advantage: the reception and breakfast are the same as at the Rex Hotel.

On the island of Långholmen, this building is a former prison converted into a hotel and youth hostel in summer. The recipe was simple: forget the past and transform the cells into rooms for 2 to 4 people (the cells are adapted for disabled guests). And there's no need to wake up with a bunch of keys. Restaurant, self-catering facilities, Internet, wifi, washing machines, TV rooms and a small museum. It's the ideal place to spend a green holiday in the heart of Stockholm!
