This small town has acquired a great notoriety thanks to its thermal spring. The water of Possotomé is indeed sold in the whole country. In the town itself, the spring feeds a public fountain from which pure, usually hot water (about 40°C) gushes out. You can see it when you arrive at the Préfet hut. The town's tourist activities are mainly focused on the lake, where hotels are beginning to build pontoons to set up their restaurants (Chez Théo, Chez Préfet) and offer trips on the water.Excursions on the lake can be organized by the association Eco-Benin or Chez Théo in particular. A trip on the lake costs about 5,000 FCFA per person. Offshore, it is possible to swim, while near the shore the bottom is muddy. This is not really pleasant. You can also go directly to the pirogues that you will find on the track along the lake, to the right of the spring, to cross the lake or go to Bopa and the wetlands of the Kouffo River It is also possible from Possotomé to discover the manufacturing process of sodabi, the brandy distilled from palm sap, in the surrounding villages. Ask for information in a travel agency in Grand-Popo.Finally, the voodoo convent tours, always very impressive, take place from December to March. Ask for information from local hotels or receptives.
