It takes half an hour by bemo to reach this bay, some 20 km south of Padang. The main village in this bay is Air Manis. The beach, with its coconut palms and grey sand, is superb. It's the ideal place to laze around while waiting for a boat or plane. In Bungus, you'll find a number of hotels, mainly for local guests. In the morning, you can witness the return of the fishing boats, their holds full of fish. Night fishing parties are organized by the skippers. At night, the boats look like Christmas trees. About 1 km past the Tintin Homestay lies the Chinese cemetery, with its horseshoe-shaped vaults.
