Nestled between the Marapi and Sago rivers, planted with rice paddies, coffee and palm trees, this village attracts visitors because of its ancient coffee mill, powered by a stream. The water drives a wheel which, in turn, sets an axle in motion. Planks attached to this axis engage notches on drumsticks, creating a rhythmic process. The pestles rise and fall forcefully into wooden containers, releasing an intoxicating coffee aroma. Unfortunately, all the machinery is housed in a shack, which makes it impossible to take photos. There's a similar mill on the road from Blankejeren to Ketembe.
