Nestling at the foot of the mountains, Sibolga is a port facing the Indian Ocean. Apart from sunsets and the departure for Nias, the town has little to offer. You'll undoubtedly be harassed by touts for the island of Nias, and they'll try to squeeze your money out of you any way they can. Very tiring! It's worth noting that since the fall in tourism, it's been a little quieter. Sibolga's hotels are drab: neon and Formica, with a little sloppiness on the housekeeping front. A pleasant beach, Pantai Pandan, 11 km from the town, will restore your good mood. The other beach, Pantai Kalangan (for a fee), a few hundred metres from the center, is also ideal for lounging. But hundreds of eyes will be staring right back at you. Oplets go to the beaches.
