Poso is the southern departure point for the Togian Islands. The old and new towns are separated by the SungaiPoso river, which is crossed either by the only bridge downstream of the meander, or by city ferries. Buses drop you off in the old town, close to the bridge. The streets of the new town are named after Indonesian islands, the urban planners having taken great pleasure in correlating the length of the streets with the size of the islands. The people of Poso are extremely friendly, and everyone here is willing to help you if you need it. Boats crossing the Gulf of Tomini also leave from Poso harbor.
