The beautiful beach of Carita (pronounced "tcharita") lies at the head of a bay, 20 km south of Anyer and 7 km north of Labuhan. Sadly, it's becoming less and less peaceful (large apartment complexes being built all the time, lots of jet-skis at weekends, hardly a place without houses).But Carita is also an excellent base for exploring Krakatau, the Ujung Kulon reserve and the island of Pulau Dua, a unique bird sanctuary. The hotel offer is generous and suits all budgets. In fact, a stay here is highly recommended when planning a tour of this little-known part of Java.
