Located 12 km southwest of Cilegon, this fishing port dominated by a lighthouse is a favorite destination for Jakartanese. In 1883, Anyer, a major Dutch port at the time, was the first victim of the Krakatau eruption. The coastline is picturesque: white sandy beaches lined with coconut palms. On weekdays, it's deserted and almost eerie. At weekends, however, crowds gather as if in "Saint Trop"! Anyer has become a rather chic seaside resort... but a little dirty.
