HOUKAMI GUYZAGN GALLERY
Art gallery organizing events and exhibiting young Ivorian and West African talent in all disciplines.
A structure for the promotion of young visual artists and an art gallery regularly organizing exhibitions, vernissages, conferences, meetings-debates and the now institutional Apéros Art, Houkami Guyzagn is today much more than a simple gallery: a cultural and artistic multiplex nicely arranged and decorated, a place of life, meetings and exchanges dedicated to art. Its rich program is focused on the exhibition of young Ivorian and West African talents in all disciplines: paintings, sculpture, photography and decorative objects. Among the artists exhibited: the visual artist Mathilde Moreau, Youssouf Bath, figurehead of the Vohou Vohou, movement of plastic creation of the 80s.
Housed in a two-storey, brightly coloured building, Thierry Dia's new complex includes two galleries, a restaurant offering some very good specialities and an ultra-cosy club lounge where you can sip delicious cocktails and rare alcohols to music, as well as guest rooms for arty stays or for artists passing through or performing at the gallery. A space full of energy and good vibes, in the image of its jovial initiator.
Another praiseworthy initiative of Mr Dia: the organization of the Guyzagn biennial, which was awarded the Guy Nairay Grand Prize. This visual arts competition, open to sculptors, photographers and painters, aims to reveal young talents and accompany them for two years while ensuring their promotion.
