The Hajjar mountains slope down to the magnificent bay of Khor Fakkan. The setting is marvellous: a small white town, the mountain almost falling into the sea, but giving way to a wide bay of fine sand. To the left of the bay, the only hotel in the area, Oceanic Hotel; close by, the royal palace (on its little hill); to the right, the container port. An authentic town where many Emiratis like to spend the weekend. For the visiting tourist, the historic center and the old souk, which have just been renovated, are well worth a visit, including the fort, now a museum, a very pleasant souk and a number of gourmet addresses.
