A center run by Emirati volunteers, where you can learn all about local culture, traditions, politics..

We highly recommend this center. It was created to facilitate inter-cultural understanding, an excellent initiative in a tense international context. One can ask all the questions without any taboo. The center is run by Emirati men and women, all volunteers, who take it to heart to answer questions that tourists may have about local culture, traditions, the role of women, politics, or religion. Everything is in English.

Opening time and information on SHEIKH MOHAMMED CENTRE FOR CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING

Breakfast with Q&A: 120 AED/person. Sunday at 9am, Monday and Wednesday at 10am. Lunch with Q&A: 130 AED/person daily at 1pm. Brunch with Q&A: 150 AED/person Saturday at 10:30am. Dinner with Q&A: 150 AED per person on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. Tea with Q&A: 150 AED per person on request only. Tour of the historic al Fahidi district and visit to the Al Farooq mosque: 100 AED per person on Saturdays at 9am and on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10.30am. Duration 90 minutes. Tour of the entire district with abra ride and visit to the souks: Every Monday at 3 pm. Duration: 3 hours. Other bookings on request: Minimum 10 people, 315 AED per person. Tour lasts 150 minutes. Visit to the Jumeirah Mosque: AED 25 35 per person, every day except Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reservations essential).
