FÆLLEDPARKEN

Parks and gardens

The largest park in the capital. 56 hectares landscaped between 1906 and 1914 by the landscape gardener Edvard Glaese on former pastures. Shaded by venerable trees under which the chess players sit and with a large lake, pavilions and water jets, the "People's Park" deserves its name. In fact, apart from the outdoor activity enthusiasts, it becomes the place where workers gather every May 1st for a festive and demanding gathering. A very "Fête de l'Huma" atmosphere! Near the lake, Café Pavillonen houses a bandstand.

HARBOUR PARK (HAVNEPARK)

Parks and gardens

Facing the port, the coastline of Brygge Islands, which runs along the street of the same name, is the modern part of the district: new buildings and rehabilitated docks make up the fabric. This seafront is laid out as a pedestrian and bicycle promenade. A long public garden where vestiges of its industrial past remain: disused railway tracks, freight wagons or a ship's hull that has become a bandstand! This very lively place offers many structures to the inhabitants: House of culture, skate-park, swimming pools, beach volleyball or petanque.
