At the entrance to the old town, adjacent to Astra Park, this 4-star hotel, restored in 2007 and refreshed in 2018, occupies a large, classic-style building over a hundred years old. Its 135 rooms are spacious, bright and modern, with a touch of retro. They offer beautiful views over the city. The establishment offers a wide range of facilities and services: a restaurant serving Balkan specialties, a spa, a fitness room, massages, paid parking... There's also a pleasant terrace at the bottom of the hotel, where you can sip a coffee and watch the world go by.

A lovely little address, occupying a beautifully restored house with a Baroque façade, on the "petite place", just off the Pont des Mensonges. The rooms have been recently renovated in a sleek, modern style. They offer views of piața Mică, the Council Tower or the evangelical church, piața Huet. Guests can organize excursions in the area with their partners. One of the entrances is shared with a pleasant café-restaurant: L'Atrium. An information point is also just a few steps from the hotel.

Set back from the old town, in a quiet side street, the 3-star Pension Cardinal is an excellent option. Its rooms are gigantic and elegantly decorated with antiques from different eras: classicism from the ^17th century, neo-baroque from the Napoleonic period and, in the attic, the atmosphere of the interwar period. There's also a fine restaurant serving Romanian cuisine. Prices are very affordable, making it one of the best value-for-money restaurants in Sibiu.

This hostel is housed in a recently renovated historic building, a stone's throw from piața Mică. It offers six- and eight-bed dormitories, as well as a double room. It's clean, there's a good atmosphere and we highly recommend it for the friendliness of the staff. On the practical side, you'll find a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area, a washing machine, a locked locker... There's also a café with an astonishing baroque decor, run by the same people. A good address for those on a budget.

This well-kept hotel is conveniently located in a quiet street in the lower town, close to the center. Most of the 10 rooms open onto the large inner courtyard, which has been converted into a terrace. They are all different, decorated in an elegant classical style. Very comfortable and impeccably clean, they are equipped with a minibar, TV and bathroom. Breakfast is generous and much appreciated, served in a beautiful room with dark wood panelling. The staff are friendly and efficient. Free private parking is available nearby.

Situated in a quiet part of the lower town, a 10-minute walk from piața Mare, this guesthouse, housed in a pink ^17th-century house, gives the impression of being in the countryside. Its rustic appearance, quiet inner courtyard and carefully landscaped garden are very pleasant. All eight rooms are clean and spacious, with simple comforts. On request, we can prepare breakfast or wash your clothes. There's also a kitchen, covered terrace and barbecue. Free street parking nearby.

Located in the north-west of the city, across the river Cibin, 5 minutes from the centre, this pension is very comfortable. The restaurant serves traditional Romanian and German cuisine.

In the lower town, conveniently located between the train station and the old town center, "la vieille maison" dates back to 1874. Now restored, it houses a beautiful guesthouse with seven comfortable rooms, decorated in a classic retro style. Some are duplexes. You can enjoy breakfast in the charming rustic dining room, or, on sunny days, in the small inner courtyard, in the shade of the covered terrace. At the foot of the Pont des Mensonges, this long-abandoned ^15th-century building has been renovated to house 4 large, simple and comfortable bedrooms on the upper floors. The small shared kitchen has a sink, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. The house owes its name to the superb ancient fresco uncovered in one of the rooms, under a layer of plaster, consisting mainly of plant motifs. The astronomer can be found in a corner, with a telescope. For a higher price, you can sleep in this beautiful room.

This is the largest hostel in the country, with 172 beds, divided into dormitories of 6, 8, 10 or 16 beds. Fortunately, the rooms are spacious and pleasant enough, with their old wooden floors and large exposed pipes. Housed in the former Telephone Palace, it's located right in the heart of the main pedestrian street. Guests have at their disposal a small kitchen and a large room with sofas and tables, as well as a workroom. The basement features a bar serving beer brewed on site, and a simple, inexpensive restaurant.

Located right in the heart of the old town, one of the major assets of this guesthouse is that it offers 6 double rooms with independent entrances, each equipped with a kitchenette (with kettle, electric hob and fridge). Everything is very clean, spacious and modern in these accommodations, which open onto a pleasant little landscaped courtyard. As you leave the guesthouse, on your left, you'll find Ouă și unt, a very nice little café serving one of the best brunches in town. Finally, and this is rare enough to be highlighted, the pension accepts pets.
