Curtea de Argeș (pop. 26,000) is a pleasant, long town with two must-see monuments of Romanian history: the princely court, a residence built when the town was the capital of Wallachia from 1330 onwards, and the monastery, whose church with its carved white walls alone is worth an excursion from the capital. The town is also appreciated for its crafts, including ceramics, and for the surrounding countryside. Finding your way around is easy: everything is located along or at the ends of Basarabilor Boulevard. You'll find banks, the post office, shops and restaurants.
