The name of this small seaside resort would come from Spanish Orocabeza, "head of gold" in French. Once a small flourishing banana port, Oracabessa saw his fortune decline in the 1960 s and his port abandoned in the 1970 s. The town stretches along the road lined with typical houses, which zigzags between the hills and the sea. It is largely on the initiative of Chris Blackwell that the town has for some time had a new tourist boom, without really reaching the level desired by the famous producer.
